    Cracked SV Fairing

My 05 SV had a huge crack in the fairing when I bought it. Is it possible to repair it with a plastic/carbon fiber kit? Or does anyone have a better idea? Thanks!

I have an 06 with the same color as yours. I looked into having mine repaired after I crashed and it would have costed more to repair than to replace it. You can find new ones for around $330ish or keep your eyes peeled on ebay.

I've gone redneck and used a soldering iron + extra plastic to put a couple back together. Holds together pretty well. Just go from the inside, and put a nice channel along the crack, then use the extra plastic and drip it into there. Takes some time to practice and do it right, but afterwards it looks pretty good (if it's only a crack and not a whole missing piece).

If it is just a crack and seems to fit together fairly well, I have had very good luck with model airplane glue. I am assuming this is a plastic fairing.

OK now that everyone is done laughing I mean the stuff that they build the RC jets with. Get the fast drying almost gel like glue.

Put tape on the outside of the fairing so the glue does not get all over the place and to hold the parts together, and then put the glue on the back side. It will fill in the cracks and holds VERY well.

If you want you can still sand and repaint the outside and it will be hardly visible.

    Just an idea.

There's someone here who did a great job of plastic welding. IIRC it was a viffer fairing.
