all of winter in one day

Zoiks!! Went up the hill hearing to expect 5" tomorrow and come back down to warnings of 8-15". Ugh! Going to be interesting to see what actually happens. Just hope it isn't a repeat of that last big storm a few years ago.
So what do you cats do on snow days from work?

Re: all of winter in one day

I checked NOAA and 9news at about 3pm today and it looked like most of the storm was going to hit the mountains - not really the city though.

I just took another peek and it looks like maybe we will get hit pretty hard. Guess we will see.

A day off on a sunny day, in order to ride, would be wonderful. But I was thinking of a snow day, and somehow, miraculously, making it to HomeDepot to get things done so I can play the whole rest of the summer.

    I'm sooo torn!

^^^^All I heard was that it was coming from the West and that right there tells me. Its not going to be bad. The worst storms we always get come from the east. So we should be good.

But I hope not so I can maybe go play in to snow some.

Re: all of winter in one day

I like Jeff's idea...um, sorry boss, can't make it in to work...the sun is just too much to take.

Actually, I just called my boss. I have to be in to work tomorrow cuz of a scheduled meeting...but...it's a virtual meeting...I was told to use my best judgment and work is an hour drive for me still...hmmmm...

I remember that last Spring storm a few years back. My kids were already on Spring break...my Spring break was the following week...I ended up with a week and a half Spring break that year. Went outside in the morning when all the snow had hit before the kids got up and had to hit the snow off the lilac branches, cuz they were all bent under the weight. I came back inside and my kids looked at me and asked if I had showered in my clothes.

I think that was '04 or '05. Same thing happened to me at Mullen HS. Had 2 weeks of Spring Break

Re: all of winter in one day

My senior year of high school, we had a nearly 3 week long spring break in kansas city. Kansas storms start with rain, turns to ice and accumulates an inch or so. Then, covered by several inches of extremely wet snow. The weight of the ice and snow causes trees to fall down, power lines, everything!

We didn't have power for 13 days. Good thing Costco had stocked up on those starter logs, as thats what we were using to stay warm, heat up soup/food, and watch as no power for that long you start to get bored.

The downside from having a job where I can work from home, is that there are no snow days. There are however random and frequent breaks to "shovel the driveway". I'm also chauffeuring Donna to work in bad weather right now so I'm sure lots of time will be spent doing that tomorrow.

I expect to get about an hour of actual, real work done.
