"4th annual memorial day ride" discussion thread..

one month from now will be the date of our memorial day ride.
    where north meet's south.
i would like to discuss plan's and meeting points in this thread.
mtnairlover and i usually plan the beginning point for the "northies".
last year i made reservation's in lyons for our group and it was not well received by the owner.(resturaunt did not receive enough business)
the diamond shamrock cannot fulfill all of us in it's parking lot,but we may be able to overspill into the "Red hill" dealership.
from lyons we will make our way south as far as idaho springs.
i know we have one member here who has (or had) a resturaunt in that area.
    anyone remember who that was??
we would like some input into whether said establishment can accomodate 60+ bikers for lunch or if there is a better place to meet.

i forget who was in charge of the "southies",but i hope he or she will do his best this year to gather the troop's.

again i hope this year will be greater than last year and that we can just have as much fun as a group, but keep it cool as usual.

    also suggested routes.
typically the northies will leave out of lyons and head to nederland for a gas up and then down south.
are there any suggestion's from people who may be attending on which route we may want to take this year??

every year this ride has taken place has been one of greatness.
let's do it again with pride and a little fun included.

    all suggestion's will be helpful.

Echo Lake Lodge opens that weekend and they have a fairly large dining room...just a thought.

Pretty much the usual canyon carve from up north. After Idaho Springs.. any thoughts about the condition of Berthoud Pass? Or perhaps down towards Deckers? I've been to the diner in Idaho Springs, it'll probably hold 60 but at the expense of pushing out the regulars. Maybe the casinos are a better bet. The food at Marion's is way better though. Echo lake... meh.. maybe. I'm hoping for warm weather so we can go further into the mountains, like maybe Winter Park or Breckenridge by that time.

+1 on Marions of the Rockies ... That is a MRA double header weekend in Hastings. You may want to call Scott (if he's not racing) and see if you can set something up. I'm sure he would be delighted to have you hooligans in there !

I vote to keep it more social than a big ride. Find a good place for lunch that is close and will accomodate. Small groups can meet enroute or even arrive alone. There are lots of rides...keep it meet, greet, eat.

Good pick on Marion's of the Rockies...it looks like it's off of Exit 241B and looks like the parking lot will accommodate a boat-load of bikes. Next thing to do would be to get an idea of an approximate number of riders and then call ahead to be sure accommodations can be made.

The good thing about this location is that all riders from all over can ride in the hills before stopping for lunch. After lunch, there's lots more riding to be had in all sorts of directions.

Oh and I happen to really like this particular day for a ride with a bunch of my riding buddies and pals.

Soooo...anyone else got something to add? I'll have to start making calls to restaurants.

seems like chad won't have that day off.
for those of you that would like to just do the meet and greet kinda thing.
    that's cool.
once we have the whole thing hammered out we will give more details.

Re: "4th annual memorial day ride" discussion thread..

I know Chad's schedule has changed, but there's always Saturday for a group ride somewhere's...hmmm, I'm thinking biscuits and gravy along with a run to maybe Walden, or a little further into the hills...

Groups can meet up all over for the 24th...like MoCO, Boulder, Lyons, etc. and then ride to Idaho Springs. We can mix up the groups for riding after wards to parts unknown, if that's the way things go.

Dunno...I think they just came to infiltrate our ranks...

Actually, I spoke with Tipys (Trevor) last Wednesday and he said he may not be available...he's one of the Southies that will come up in our direction. I haven't heard from Jim (Jim Wallace) for quite a while, but he likes to ride up in our hills, too. Then, you've got Bash, Mental and gsxrScott...just not sure if any of them will be free.

So...hey guys, this is a shout out.

I will look into rounding up the NCM crew to join in on the fun, though, this is the same Sunday that Bandemere is hosting their all MC day to spank the 1/4 sooooo.....................
surely the ones interested in running the 1/4 mile that day, including myself, can come out for this ride and then perhaps roll straight over to Bandemere sometime after lunch.
will check in as details develop.

It would be great to see everyone, but whatever y'all end up doing, then I hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

If you haven't noticed, I keep talking about Sunday like it's ma birfday or sumpin'...and actually, it is. So, having my birthday fall on the same day as the 4th Annual Mem-Day/north meets south ride is kind of a bonus in my mind. Spending that day riding around with a bunch'o wonderful people makes it that much better.

this ride is always fun and tends to get larger every year.
i hope to continue this tradition for quite sometime.

How will I know you when I see you? Teasing Mayo.

This is THE ride I fondly look forward to. I came last year and damn near cried with all the wonderful people that showed. I loved every second of every minute of it thanks to Bueller who baby'd me down the hwy for the first time ever. Not to mention the rest of you all.

    I'm all veklempt!!!! LOL

What an amazing memory this ride is. North meets South. It's an absolute pleasure on every level to be there on THAT day. It's a day for some of the finest people I know, that ride together and maintain those wonderful friendships for the entire year because they are just good people.

If I can make it, I'm comin'. This is my favorite ride of all them.
