    Keep it safe out there!

As it is now the eve of the passing of a comrade I'm compelled to post regarding keeping it safe out there.

I've now read of 2 big injuries on the street today and was at the track when another one of our members fell down. It was a bad day for our community overall.

It's mid season, and we're all feeling pretty confident with our skills. The winter cobwebs have blown off, the tarmac is warm and the days keep being nice for riding and having fun. It is at this time that our guard drops, sometimes just a little, and the opportunity of badness to occur rears it's ugly head.

To those who have gotten hurt today, please heal quickly and rejoin us for the ride.

To the rest of us, Please; stay alert, wear your gear, keep your skills sharp and ride within your limits. Stay safe.

    Scott

Re: Keep it safe out there!

The intense pocket thunderstorms up in the mountains lately keep sweeping crap onto the road, meaning a perfectly clear road can have a section that got dumped on, bringing sand, silt, and shoulder gravel left over from the long winter into the line.

After almost losing it in on a dried mud-covered Lefthand Canyon bend a couple of weeks ago, I'm back to winter rules. If I go into a corner and see that the roadbed is lower than the shoulder, I haven't ridden the corner in 24hrs, and I can't see the line is clear, I'm riding the corner at a pace of expecting crap on the road. At least until we get a good stretch of no T-storms.

Its not only the road conditions, gotta watch out for more and more peoples in the mountains. I went for a solo ride last weekend and some guy in a Hummer decides he wants to turn around right in front of me, I locked up the backend and managed to swerve around him, thank the good lord no one was in the oncoming traffic lane or I might not be typing this right now. As a new rider it was a lessoned learned, I thought I did well controlling the bike, just wasn't all that impressed with where I ended up. Skillz I gots a few, lol.....Get your safe on people.

Watch yourself out there people. I was in a bank parking lot today and an older gentlemen walked out in front of me and, I am ashamed to admit, I had to lay the bike over to avoid hitting him. No damage to me or the bike fortunately, thank goodness for frame sliders. First time in 15 years of riding i've ever had a bike not on two wheels.

Re: Keep it safe out there!

Came as close to getting taken out yesterday on S. Turkey Creek as I ever have.
Const. zone, wait for flaggers to let our direction go, I am in front. Get to the end of the zone and the last car in line coming the other way decides he doesn't want to wait and flips a bitch right in front of me. forces me off the road onto a very narrow gravel shoulder after the 4" drop off of the new pavement. If I didn't spend half my life riding in dirt I probably woulda ate shit. I get her stopped and yell at the stupid sonofa bitch for a solid 45 seconds, called him every name in the book and if I'da had a concealed weapon I woulda shot the fucker in self defence. j/k
He is apologetic, but what good is that when I'm fucking dead I yell at him, try to be less stupid next time and look at what you are freakin Doing!!!!

    Man was that a rush
