Yeah, "Wow!" is the response "The Mutant" gets. That's a heavily modified 1000R built by Tom Westby down in the Springs. For comparison, here is my nearly pristine, completely stock version (and keeping with the scenic view theme of the thread):

OK, Here's one from outside Colorado as requested/suggested.

Behind me are the corn fields of Illinois in Autumn.

This is the morning after a long all night ride from Boulder to Central Illinois. 13 hours of riding, 2 hours for food and fuel. Over 900 miles of Interstate. ...what fun.

Yeah, The Beast is a good example of the 1000R with the European paint scheme. I need to get the forks serviced so I can bring it out to bike night sometime. It has won best in show at bike shows.

yeah, I76 to I80 and then stay on it all the way to illinois. It actually helped that it was dark out. Cooler on the engine, nothing but semis, lay down on the tank bag, hang the tach on about 5 grand and think about how many combinations you can come up with for feet positions, and how to stretch your legs.

...as it turns out, it was still faster than using the airport and I booked my own itinerary.

The only real down side to the whole trip was that I had just gone through a pair of Dunlop 220 radials and bought a brand new pair of Pirelli Diablos that same afternoon. Then proceeded to put a big flat spot on them because of all the highway droning.

If only the Dunlops hadn't been down on the wear bar, but it just didn't look like they had another 2,000 miles (round trip) left in them. It's better to start off a long trip with fresh tires but damn. I hated wearing out a set of Pirelli's on the interstate. But it was a last minute thing and that's all they had in the shop.

My wife and I rode around our old home area in eastern Ohio this summer. Not a lot of "scenic" back there but we did go out to the old country bridge that was once used as a drag race area. Its hard to get to these days due to poor (dirt) road conditions but people apparently still use the bridge for burn outs.
