    Bob,
Short of mechanical troubles or rain/snow that whole weekend you can change me from interested to definite.
+1 on skipping Utah and staying off of I-70, but whatever works for the group is good by me.

Made reservations. I have a room with two beds, and interested in splitting the cost with preferably a female rider.
Will most likely take 50 back because I'm in the Springs. Hoping that we get to see some Fall colors.

The route should be ridden clockwise. If the route is ridden counter clockwise you will end up in Durango way after 10 PM.

Re: Moab/Durango/Gunnison the weekend of Sept. 26/27

I just returned Sunday from a 4 day ride down around hwy 550. Everything was lovely but the temps are definitely cooling down so bring warm clothes. We saw lots of fall colors climbing from I70 towards Leadville, and again on the east side of Independence Pass. The west side was still green and no leaves had yet turned in the aspen groves outside of Aspen. Some fall colors along 550 but much less than I expected. The roads were all clean, except if (it doesn't look like it from your map) you plan on going over McClure Pass. Lots of construction on 92 west of Hotchkiss with stretches of watered down dirt to ride over.
We had a fantastic time. Caught some rain and hail outside of Telluride and dodged plenty of thunderstorms. Sunday morning I was going to ride into Silverton (from Ridgeway) for breakfast but the high country was covered in mean nasty looking clouds so I headed on home.

I'd love to join you all and do it again but now I need to get back to work!

    Spiderman,
There has been a lot of chatter about routing/direction but it's your thread, do you have a revised route? I'm game either way I just need to calculate what part of my tire I will be on and if it will last. Nothing worse than pulling off good rubber if you don't need to!

Didn't we (not so formally) meet in Leadville Sunday during lunch at Doc Holidays? Glad to hear you got home safely.

Yeah we did! I'm going to have to start asking people I meet about the CSC, y'all seem to be everywhere. The ride home was fine, a little rain but nothing worth worrying about. I was in around 5:00 I guess. Did you go up Mosquito?

Nah. I spent some time east of Leadville looking for mines, slipping and sliding in the mud, then I just shot back on 70.

I was planning on leaving the Morrison Conoco at 8:30 AM on Saturday the 26th.

Ya think? I wasn't planning on taking long breaks. Here's how I was picturing it:
    - Leave Morrison at 8:30 AM
    - Lunch in Grand Junction around 12:30 (something quick)
    - Arrive in Moab around 4:00
    - Arrive in Durango by 8:00 PM

I'm sorry, I've been slammed at work and haven't had time to examine the different options that people have mentioned (sorry John), so no, I do not have a revised route at this time. Like I said, I'm open to changing the route. I would really like to do that 41 mile stretch of road along the river that leads in to Moab, that, along with stopping in Durango, was my goal for this trip. If someone has a solid suggestion for a revised route, please post it up.

Ninja2, I'm a rider gal from the Springs who was planning on heading to Durango with one other buddy on Saturday the 26th. We'll be staying the night there. However, he and I are not together, so could I split the room with you that night? E-mail me and we can discuss more details and contact info. - Sarah

To include the Moab section (road 128 ) and stop in Durango, without adding huge miles, 70 is pretty much the only. I'm planning to follow the crowd, backroads or freeway, I'll be in Durango.

Jeff's does this mean we will see you in Durango?

Re: Moab/Durango/Gunnison the weekend of Sept. 26/27

This is going to be a blast!!! POWERS and I plan on being in Durango the night of Sep 26 (I'm sharing a room with Ninja2).

I have the feeling that a lot of us may be doing slightly different routes along the way and back, even though we're all starting and ending in the same locations.

For me and POWERS (we are both from Colorado Springs), we'd definitely like to meet with folks Saturday morning. We have THIS ROUTE in mind, but it may deviate if something else sounds more interesting. The idea of being in a large group is awesome, but we're okay if we end up splitting from everyone else, or if other people come along with us.

Therefore, does anyone have specific times and locations in mind of meeting places for the morning of Saturday the 26th (where in Morrison/Denver? where in Colorado Springs? times?)

    Thanks!
    Sarah

Just a heads up, if you're going north over Grand Mesa. On the north side descending towards I-70, towards the bottom, there are a couple of nasty frost heaves where the pavement drops several inches. It looks like the new pavement just sagged in areas. Those are marked by cones .. but don't trust that the cones will always be there.

Awesome (or awsome as some prefer), I love it there is a jump or a sag in the pavement mid sweep! That and deer jumping out while at 80% lean angle, anything to increase pucker factor.
