    White lines at HPR

First let me say I have an awesome job. At the track yesterday, 6 to 8 plus inches of snow most places. I raced a big ass jack rabbit in the plow truck from pit out to turn two. He was hiding in a snow drift inside the pit wall. Rabbit won this time. It took about ten laps to clear the track of the snow. Pit lane and the paddock are not as easy or fun. The track was dry in places when I left.
No doubt about the future, No regrets about the past!

Why is it necessary to clear the track of snow? Just wondering.

If we don't clear it the top layer melts, then filters to the bottom, freezes, etc, etc and we end up with a lot of ice that takes forever to remove. Plowing it keeps us ahead of the curve and gives us a clean dry track as soon as the weather warms up and allows us to have more winter lapping possibilities.

It also lessens the amount of moisture that gets in any cracks in the asphalt, keeping them smaller.
