CSC Annual Noob Ride - Sat. May 21

The idea for the N00b ride is simple: to welcome those newer riders and given them a positive role model for responsible and safe riding; to welcome riders who are new to Colorado and/or canyon riding and to welcome people to group riding. The CSC has traditionally held this ride in the earlier part of the riding season, before the onslaught of summer drivers and daytrippers yet far enough into the spring that the roads are clear of snow, ice and sand.

This year we will be hosting the N00b ride on May 21, the weekend before Memorial Day and as always, we will be teaming up experienced riders with their less experienced counterparts. While this is traditionally worked around the sportbike community, we do not and have not turned away persons on other types pf motorcycles. We ask only that everyone wear a helmet, gloves, ankle-height shoes and pants. Those who show up without this minimal amount of gear will be asked to leave the group ride.

So, let's all get together and have some fun!

May 21 at MoCo/ Noob Ride. 9am. Kick Stands Up, 9:30. Route: http://goo.gl/437Eo

Depending on the number of people we get we'll need a bunch of leads and sweeps. What did we have last year, 8 or 9 groups? Let's get at least 9 teams of leaders and sweepers.

Leaders and sweepers, remember this isn't a race. This is a noob ride. Hopefully we'll be able to put a handful of noobs with a handful of more experienced riders so the groups will all have an even mix.

I'm thinking at least two women leads and sweeps for the girls only/mainly group.

Also, gear is required. Helmet, gloves, jackets and boots that cover your ankles, at least.

Let me know about route suggestions. I like the 105 idea. Not sure if 83 is curvy enough, though.

Route: http://goo.gl/437Eo Notice, MoCo is labeled at the starting point.

No, that wasn't a newb ride. The last newb ride I remember had like 50 bikes at MoCo. I don't think anyone has taken over since Brian left.

difference between n00b friendly rides and "the n00b ride"

I don't think it much matters when it is, but I'd wait a bit to allow things to clear up more. I'll also volunteer for lead/sweep duties

Yeah there was one last year, I think Chadwick organized most of it... It's too early in the season to have a proper noob ride. A lot of the regulars are bound to participate when the time comes around... and if nobody more experienced leading rides than I wants to host it I don't mind organizing the ride.

Mid-May sounds good to me. I get there April 29th.

    How's the weather/road conditions?

roads aren't too bad right now, but some gravel might freak some newer people out. I generally ride in the car tire tracks anyway, the "racing line" has its place, and its not on the street

being that they get big, and we generally have to split into smaller groups, I volunteer for lead/sweep of one of the groups.

Fast in bed would have been the rebuttal to that one. I try to set em up so you fags can knock em down... sigh.

Thanks for the support...I tend to restrain a bit too much on the street (on the track too, for that matter), but i can't afford a ticket, or laying the bike down

    How was the lapping day?

Oh.. I thought it said Boob ride.

If I don't have a schedule conflict I might be available to lead or sweep.

    Re: Noob Ride

I'm always fond of espousing a newie ride that takes HW83 departing Parker southbound into Colorado Springs for lunch, and then back again via a route TBD. It's one of those rides/roads that has decent scenery, where you won't encounter much traffic, and that has enough sweepers and curvy bits, where even greenhorns can give it the whip, and not be worried of running a corner hot. [Berthoud Pass peg-draggers, need not apply. =) ]

This time of year, I can't imagine that there would be any debris on it at all.

It was awesome! It felt so good to get back on the track. I took it easy my first session, just to knock all the rust off. The next three sessions were a blast. I followed Joe around the track, learning his lines.

105 to Palmer Lake would be another decent early season route. Sweepers and open sight lines, good pavement.

    Re: Noob Ride

Funny you say that Jeff, because 105 N was one of the ways back from Duh Springs, that we used to do. It's a good loop; good distance for newies who are ready to stretch their legs for the first of the season. Damn.. I think I'm trying to talk myself into making this ride now!
