Plenty of places in the Springs to have lunch that will accommodate 50+ people.

Then it's another 15 miles or so to PPIR. Most of these group rides split up after lunch anyway so this would put allot of riders close to the races if they wish to come.

I might be able to make it. What does MoCo stand for?

That's a great idea, push the ride South...do lunch...peeps can then head back North or head to PPIR.

The issue isn't that the veteran riders/racers won't be able to meet the newbs, it's that the veteran riders/racers who help out with the newb ride by leading or sweeping will either be on the track or in the stands. If it was a different, non-race weekend, I'll gladly lead or sweep. If you keep it the same day, then I'll see y'all at the track!

I like the idea of heading south with an after lunch break up to PPIR or Home.

    I'm available to sweep.

If we did head south, someone should probably make a list of the people who won't be hitting PPIR so a mini noob ride with lead/sweep can take the noobs back north.

    MoCo to PPIR via 105 & I-25, eta 1:45

MoCo to PPIR via Deckers, Woodland Park & I-25, eta 2:30.

Though Deckers might be a bit intimidating for real noobs.

    Wouldn't that be ETT?

    105 - ETA 11:15 AM
    Deckers - ETA 12:00 PM

Provided the sand is gone, Deckers isn't bad doing the speed limit.

I tried to pick something far enough out that people could prepare and I'm busy for the few weekends before that one. I also wanted to get the noobs out riding with experienced persons before the Memorial Day traffic slam.

I get that you are thinking 105, but a peak-to-peak run would be a little longer and lunch at Oskar Blue's sounds amazing!

However, 105 would be a great run too. O'Mally's is great as well!
I thought P2P would have been more fun, too, but with Jim's awesome offer I'm thinking south might make for a good day for those wanting to hit the PPIR.

Anyone else have an opinion on that? Is heading south for PPIR a good idea?

I did, however I'm out of town the weekend before, my birthday will be celebrated the weekend before that and I'm supposed to be out of town (but that may change) the two weekends following next. Plus, I wanted it to be warm enough. I hate the cold.

Organizing something like this is what I like to call the "Pizza Conundrum." When trying to order pizza for a group of people you're never going to be able to make everyone happy so sometimes a command decision is needed.

Good idea, Jim. Can I have the people who are interested in this offer PM you directly with their names or start a new thread?

If you move it to the next weekend you are dealing with Memorial Weekend and the traffic associated with all the campers.

Keep the ride 2-3 with a lunch stop in a "larger" mountain city that can accomodate 50 plus riders.

Lock in the chalks/groups that go out by 15 minutes so they do not bottle neck up.

Have someone print out copies of the route to handout...there have been times the route was not undersood by everyone. On the other side of the paper print out the lead riders phone numbers/key hand and arm signals/etc...

Have the ride start out of a parking lot VS MOCO for better control out of the gates (to help handle the large amount of bikes).

I can help organized, but cannot 100% commit to the ride at this time.
It's like you've organized roll-outs before. Good ideas, especially printing the route out and the roll-out intervals. Feel free to contact me with any other ideas.

Good idea. Anyone know for a fact they're not going to PPIR and want to be the lead on the ride back to Denver?

Also, any Southies have ideas about a route between 105 and a lunch spot?

I will NOT be going to PPIR. I will also NOT be taking the superslab back north.

+1 on command decisions. Good job so far on this Jason.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything south of 105 and Colorado Springs except I25. 105 will put you into Palmer Lake, then into Monument, so you'll be slabbing it down to the Springs. There are plenty of places for lunch in the Springs, depending on what you want. I think Palmer Lake and Monument have some places too, but I can't tell you anything about them.

Just to clarify, whereabouts do you want to do lunch in the C/S area: would you rather be on the South end of the Springs to launch closer to PPIR, or the North end so non-PPIR folks can head back home without having to ride through the city again?

At I25 and Interquest Pkwy (Exit 153 just south of Monument) are Colorado Mountain Brewery and Cheddar's. From this area, any Northies heading home will have easy access to CO105, I25, or CO83. The adventurous ones can continue south on I25 to Exit 141 for US24 into Woodland Park and head home through Deckers.

I can provide more dining ideas once I get a feel for where you'd rather stop for lunch.

There is a good Mexican restaurant near Palmer Lake/Monument that could accommodate a large group as long as someone called ahead. Guitar X knows the name of the place if you're interested.

Sounds good. It's north of C/S so people heading back north can head back and it's Mexican food and Mexican food is the food of the gods.

Can I go? Can I go? Can I go? Please! Please! Please!

Oh and BTW I'm sort of a noob, I have only been on a couple CSC group rides, but that was a couple years ago. Also I have around 20k miles and 2 years under my belt. Just an FYI.

    In conclusion......I'm in!
