made it about 50yrds and said screw this I need another bike. I knew it wouldn't work out but I was feeling frisky today. On the lookout now...

Love both of mine. I really don't miss my street bikes anymore. If your going to do a lot of fast highway I'd look for something on the larger side. The DRZ is ok for a short time at speed....but it really wears on you.

thought about the smaller GS ( i do love those) to be honest I don't do "hwy riding" so i'm open to ideas. I love the price and overall lightweight of the DRZ

DR-Z isn't the best bike in the world, but it's really hard to dislike too. Does an awful lot of things pretty darn well.
I got a DRZ400SM with an extra set of dirt wheels. So I can switch between the road wheel setup and the offroad wheel setup, pretty quick and easy. The GS offroad is no comparison to the DRZ offroad. The DRZ does not compare to the GS onroad though......and there are a bunch of other nice dualsports to check out.

Go big, or go home...
I do a lot of commuting and like to do long multi-day trips, so a DRZ isn't really a great option for me. I had an 09 KLR, which wasn't bad, it just didn't have enough hp on the interstate for my liking. I love the shit out of my KTM 950Adv. While it's a heavy bike, it does most things I need it to do, and it does it very well. Down the road I'll probably get a little 450 or 250 4 stroke for more technical stuff.
disclaimer: you could buy three of Rybo's bikes for one used KTM 950/990Adv
