    My ****ing ears

I like listening to music, but I also like using earplugs. Sometimes I'm on a long ride and I really need both. Do the bluetooth speakers from all the new little helmet comms do the trick through the earplugs, or is there a better way under $200?

    Thanks in advance

Cut out the music. Go earplugs only. Earplugs FTW. You probably listen to crappy music anyway .

Some of the best quality earplugs out there... How do I know? Friend's stepdad owns the company, friend is mostly deaf, couldn't use any sort of hearing aid until they got into the business. Now he speaks pretty well and can hear much better than he ever could before.

Might get me some of these for my current line of work as the noise levels with power tools get ridiculous sometimes along with everything else at the shop lol

I'm pretty happy with my Sena SMH10 and some lower level reusable ear plugs (E.A.R. EZ-INS-with an nrr of 22). Most of the foam ear plugs are in the 29-32 nrr range and make the music hard to hear at higher speeds. Now, the trick is finding the perfect mp3 player with built in BT (not that happy with the Creative Zen M300).

We use the Scala, and I use the foamies. Not the best since it seems you need to use your outside voice; or maybe I am losing my hearing. Other times I just listen to the voices in my head.

I've got a Sena as well.

I've got one helmet w/ the speakers in it and they work with foamies for listening to music, but like Dave said, at higher speeds you will lose some audio.

I also have the optional cradle with an earplug jack. I got a custom set of ear plugs made and they are the best. Expensive, but worth it.

it's not canceling noise, just attenuating it.

    Re: My ****ing ears

I've recently been looking at some new earbuds. The ones I have now have the "wrap around the ear" thing, so they aren't that bad, but regular earbuds always pop out when I put my helmet on. Anyone try the etymotic ones?

I have the scala as well and I was afraid that with earplugs i wouldn't be able to hear it... its hard to hear as it is. I've never riden with ear protection... maybe I should try it?

The answer to your dreams. These are made from beeswax and some other shit and are the best plugs I have ever used. You just squeeze the material around a bit to warm and soften it (hee hee!), then stuff it in your ear. It molds to the inside of your ear and blocks out the world. They can be reused over and over and you can mold them around your earbuds if you listen to music. I bought one pair last year to try them and still use them from time to time. They are still like new, so don't buy a big pack unless you plan to share or lose your shit a lot.
