    Fall Colors Ride NW Colorado

Outlaw, Powers and myself decided to head NW last weekend. Thought we'd share some ride information with you. Hopefully you can make it out the next few days while the yellow is on the trees.

Route (Dave, thank you so much for pulling this together)
    To Steamboat:
    http://g.co/maps/55prx
    From Steamboat:
    http://g.co/maps/gsx9a

After linking up with Outlaw in Evergreen on 119, I believe.

This picture is either taken off of US 7 or 72 towards Lyons.

    Lunch in Lyons:

Carter Lake and Stove Prairie was a lot of fun. My first time. Unfortunately, I do not have pics from that area.

We then got a bit rained on heading west from Walden, and esp Cameron's Pass. But we were then rewarded with a beautiful rainbow before Rabbit's Ear Pass:

On US 40 just south of Steamboat.

We stayed at the Nordic Lodge in Steamboad right off of Lincoln Ave, the main street in downtown Steamboat. The room was reasonable, with great service and it was very clean. The person at the front desk is from Poland and fluent in German. He even gave us rags to clean our gear. Needless to say, our bikes were pretty filthy, too.

It was still a bit damp and cold as we took off around 8am (thanks, Dave....). But it warmed up quickly, and handwarmers in my boots made the ride quite cozy (and my boots prob even more smelly).

Here the Chevy club from Kansas going through Routt Ntl Forest.

And some more pics from up there. I forgot which road this is:

US 134b is a blast, and we can highly recommend it. US 131 was nice, too. Here some more pics from along both - some of us started to get tired and bored... .

Lunch in Leadville. Dave used every opportunity to touch my bike.... . To save it from leaking coolant.

The through Breck, Hoosier Pass, and the usual lookie-loo spot: Kenosha Pass (US285). This is where we encountered the most traffic:

And back at Pine Junction where we had to say good-bye to Dave:

there were a couple other roads up that way that looked sweet, but a KTM would have navigated them better

    Yes.

You need a big ass dual sport, that's where all the good riding is. Plus, it's fun to spin your back tire anytime you want.

Yeah, not sure what's going on with my pics. They were visible on one page on my private laptop. Now that I am at work, I have to scroll. Unfortunately, I won't have time to resize and repost. Another reason to looking forward to getting off work. :-)

No worries, I'll just wait to get home (at work, they blocked images posted from Flickr, Photobucket, etc, and also Picasa if you're using the regular "http." I can only see Picasa if it's "https").
