    Good Price for an XT250

My wife is looking for an XT250 (or something similar) as it has a low seat height and is a dual sport we could use on some fire roads. I don't see a single one on craigslist, there is only one up in Loveland and they're asking $3,695 (NADA shows a value of only $2,485) I know new they run right at $5,000 these days but I don't want to spend that. Do you think they're asking too much or is that about the market value you've seen them going for? Any other recommendations for her? She is looking for a dual sport or street legal dirt bike that we can ride down to Rampart or other nearby areas that has a low seat height where she can at least get one preferably two feet down (she is 5'4") She can't even one foot my DR-Z. Thanks for the assistance.

I'll show my sweetie this thread. She bought hers in the midwest it had 60mi on it, and paid something like $1K less than what Grand Prix was asking last year IIRC.

Also take a look at the XT225, it was the successor to the 250.

They are bulletproof and a blast.

CRF230L Stock seat height is 31.9", same as the XT250. You can shave the seat and/or use a lowering link if she wants it lower.

I have heard that the CRF230s are even slower than the XT250's.

Well, they are both slow. How 'bout a TTR (also slow)?

Thanks for all the info. We'll be keeping an eye out for any of them. Their was a XT225 up in Granby but it has sold and another in Greenwood Village that I haven't been able to get a call/email reply back on. The Honda's are fairly rare to find but I'm going to keep a look out. I'm not worried about the bike being slow at all, it won't get used much on paved roads (besides riding to some destinations until we get a trailer) and mainly will be used to putt around on dirt roads and trails.

The 230's are not exceptionally good motorcycles. They'll probably get the job done but I'd get a Yamaha if I were you...

Re: Good Price for an XT250

Thanks for all the help. The wife decided she wanted just a dirt bike right now and maybe in a year or two we'll get her a DS to do some street riding. We ended up with a 08 CRF150F and trailer so hopefully that bike will work for her. We looked at some other dirt bikes (TTR's, CRF230's, KLX's etc) but she really wanted to be able to flat foot her first dirt bike and this was one of the few that she was able to and I figure there is less chance she could get herself in trouble with a 14hp bike. I hope it'll be good for her to putt around on some easy trails and if not we got it so cheap we could probably sell it for what we paid.
