    What coffee do you drink?

So, I've never been a "coffee" guy. I just recently decided to begin drinking a cup or two for breakfast and picked up a coffee maker today. However, since I have never bought coffee before in my 33 years of life, I have no idea what is a good quality "brew" (I think that's what the cool guys call it).

What are some of your favorites?

    I like Seattle's best #3.
I've got more flavor than a packet of macaroni.

I'm a one cup a day guy, to get my morning started.

I've been enjoying Starbuck's 'Verona' for awhile now. I'm a firm believer in grinding my own beans.

I suggest experimenting with different roasts until you get a sense of what you enjoy most. I like a dark roast. Lately, I've been drinking Starbucks Verona with a pour-over setup. But I've done French press, Keurig, Mr. Coffee, etc... nothing is best IMO. I just need the variety.

I believe in having someone else grind my beans, but that is just me

Ha ha, touche. I don't like dry beans

I used to hate on Starbucks, till I got lazy and now grab a bag when I'm at Kings.

(I've done the Kirkland stuff, Whole Foods hippy brews, Hawaiian Kona ($), Jamaican Blue Mountain ($), yada-yada)....

I guess I've "settled", but I'm ok with that

I don't care about the label as long as it's a quality bean roasted very dark. I like the Organic Italian from Sunflower Market a lot.

I'll go out tomorrow and try to get a few different ones you guys are recommending and switch it up till I find one I like. The maker came with a couple of bags of something called Purple Mountain. I guess I'll give that a shot in the morning until I make it to the store.

From their website, it looks like they do light roast; which has more caffeine btw... but I can't stand the flavor.

Yup. I got one for Christmas and I dig it. I'm not a regular coffee drinker, but when I want some it's good to go.

Keep an eye on the sales and the cost is pretty low... < $.50/ cup

My recommendation: don't get started. I am seriously addicted to caffeinated coffee and drinking several cups of Joe is the first thing in the morning.

Think I might try this when I need a break from the caffeine:

    http://www.drinkchoffy.com/

Brews in a french press like coffee.

Otherwise, I blend my own at Sunflower Market.

Re: What coffee do you drink?

Right now my favorite morning coffee is a chicory blend from new orleans. I've liked Seattle's Best, Kona etc. and there are some Ethiopian dark blends that are good for that morning jolt. Evenings, sometimes I have a decaf or chocolate blend.

Keurigs are great until their units have a spaz attack and not give you the correct amounts. Hint, get the little filter attachment and you can use you favorite grind without buying their packets. I've had cappuccino machines, Mr Coffee, etc. <3 my french press, though I never seem to be able to wait for it to steep.

Sometimes Dunkin Donuts coffee hits the spot. I used to be a big Starbux latte person but now they taste like coffee flavored syrup sometimes.

Re: What coffee do you drink?

I'm a one cup a day guy as well.

If I want an awesome cup of joe, I fire up my Nespresso espresso machine and run 2 pods for big cup of coffee. initial buy-in is steep ($300ish) but the flavor is amazing compared to brewed coffee. Pods are about .50 each.

If I want to get the best flavor out of a bag of coffee, I use the French Press. Very inexpensive but slower.

If I'm in a rush, it's the coffee maker. I tend to buy Kona or Seattle's Best, but the beans you buy by the pound are pretty good not no cheaper.

we've got a Delonghi espresso maker if i'm feeling fancy otherwise I just grind my own beans (highly recomend this) and do french press. Lately I've started using the coffee from Einstein bagel and really like it.

Re: What coffee do you drink?

I'm a Cappuccino drinker, I guess it comes from living in Europe. Which int he US means I only can order it when at a higher end restaurant and they seem to make it look all pretty...LOL I do own a Cappuccino maker....LOL

I really do not know anything about starbucks never been in one so I should of been fair in my post above. I just go by what my father says as he drinks coffee a lot (pots of the stuff a day), but only black. He claims starbucks in not bad, but not worth the price and too hard to order a black coffee without anything in it. He is not amused by the names they give their products. He claims there are many BETTER options out there, and much cheaper too. My belief is starbucks grew out of the Yuppies, and others want to act like Yuppies and keep up with people so its the trendy place to go. There been reports over the years of people taking their starbucks cup to McDonald's and having them filled just to LOOK the part. Sad really, so I have a hard time embracing a 'Keep up with the Joneses style of business'.

    Drink what you like...

So why now the jump on coffee? The stuff to me is OKAY if you add MILK and lots of sugar. but not something I want to drink daily or every morning.
