anyone want to help me setup suspension?

I had a 05 600RR for 7 years that I always told myself I was going to adjust the suspension, but I got so comfortable on it I never did. Just picked up a new 12 1000RR and I would like to do it right this time, but I am not too experienced with adjustments. Would anyone who is experienced be willing to help me out? I would be willing to ride anywhere in the metro area. Thanks!

What kind of riding are you doing? If your riding on the street all you will really need to do is set your sag in my experience the comp and rebound adjustments are fine for even hard canyon riding, you really wont know where you need your damping settings set until it is worked hard on a track unless the specified factory settings are off and your front end is diving too hard or continues to bounce through the stroke. Get online and look up how to set sag its easy you will nedd a friend to help hold things while measuring.

Google Dave Moss videos. OTOH you could ride up to Ft Collins and get Dave Rose at STM suspension to make it right for you.

*Most* middleweight sportbikes are set up from the factory for a 140-150lb rider.

You also might want to mention where you are or where you're willing to go for help.

    Get this book:

    Sportbike Suspension Tuning
    By Andrew Trevitt

You can definitely just go pay someone to set it up for you or you can learn how to do it yourself. It takes time and lots of experiments, but once you understand the mechanics behind the knobs and dials, it gets much easier.

Its not how fast you go, its how little you slow down.

Re: anyone want to help me setup suspension?

add one more for Dave and STM - I know a bit about suspension and have helped people on here set up their bikes. Dave is better than me. By a lot.

At 205-210 lbs you almost certainly have the wrong springs in the fork and on the shock. Getting the spring right is the most important thing you can do for your suspension. Dave keeps dozens of springs in stock to help you solve this problem.
