Where are the sport touring guys at?

Looking to do some spirited riding with some others on sport-tourers. Who's got what?!

    * Bash, Bashasaurus, Ms Bash, his neighbors or friends are not responsible for any incidents, accidents, or accusations, that might result from you being squidish, squid like, squirting ink, or waving your non-covered tentacles about in a squidy fashion. Nor is he or his associates responsible for any citations as a result of you hanging with SoCo. Any attempt to coerce, blame, question, or pin your loser-riffic behavior on any of us, or those who are considered us for the night, as well as people we like, to include Salma Hayek and Nicky Hayden, among others, will result in a profanity stricken series of post that mock and taunt you incessantly, as well as many of us adding such insults to our signature lines. Avoid taking SoCo before bedtime. Do not use if you experience faintness, dizziness, inverness, difficulty urinating or blotchy skin. If I steal a line, quote, avatar or image from a post you make on the internet, you're not getting credit.*

Damn, there's a nice VFR on there for a decent price. Too bad it's in Chicago. All the good deals are 1000 miles away.

If the deal's good enough, fly-n-ride!

I'm considering doing something similar, but not for a viffer

When you factor in overcoming the distance they turn into not a great deal.

It's not the destination, it's the journey...

Found a bike in the southeast that I wouldn't mind owning... hell of a lot cheaper (several K) then in CO. Airfare's 200 bucks, figure one or two nights lodging, gas and food... Still ahead... And, another ride through states I've never been in!

people get too hung up on "a good deal"

Meanwhile a "fair deal" would have you enjoying your ride and the riding season already

The alternative would be to ship it. We found a good deal on a dual sport in the midwest and it cost around $300 for shipping though uship.com iirc.

+1 agree with fly/ride. But that would depend on the states you have to ride through. Western states with twisties yeah, the hell that is Iowa and Kansas? No thanks.

and here I thought you chimed in as a sport-TOURING guy?

Some times you have no choice but to ride through hell. Just don't look back and keep on goin before they know you were there.

Been there... nothing quite like 100+ degrees in the desert w/ a highway that vanishes to a point. And when you get to that point, you turn left and head to another distant point.

I now value audio books and a bluetooth headset more than ever!

...or 100+ for months on end with 50% humidity and rarely getting below 90 at night...with 85% humidity to greet you in the morning. That is the main reason why we moved from away Austin. I put 16,000 miles on my Sprint in the past 9 years, probably about 1,500 in the last three years because riding just became too miserable to enjoy. It became too easy to put the top up on the car and turn the A/C on when it got too hot.

No thank you... Born and raised in CO. I don't deal well with humidity.

I recently bought sport touring tires 2 weeks ago, I plan to do some longer rides this season like to the western slope, durango, million dollar highway, possibly Taos. As for the headset issue, I figured maybe with all the sport touring guys in this thread maybe they can chime in on a good headset.

I bought a cheapy one off amazon to see if I would like it. But I just can't live without earplugs, the wind noise is too great (maybe my helmet sucks ass) but I would love to have a headset I could hear the navi turns and music and talk freely without having to hear the wind noise. Maybe I need a louder unit or a quieter helmet. Do you guys use earplugs and STILL are able to hear your music/talking on the headset?
