Re: Official Laguna MotoGP 2012 trip thread.

The partner I am travelling with and two other guys that are meeting us out there booked rooms at Casa Munras Hotel , Main street Monterey. Its about a mile off Cannary row, but walkable. Price was $215 a night.

Also planning my trip out there. Right now, it looks like this after trailering to Mammoth Lakes:

I have two paved moto parking spots, Sunday only, I need to sell if anyone is interested. Its the RED lot and they are $25 apeice plus $10 S&H from the track. $20 each or OBO takes them.
Otherwise, your parking your bike in a field.

Race is three weeks away (counting travel) so its a good time for roll call. Who is in and what are your plans? Mine are listed in the post above and even with my newly seperated shoulder , I still plan to make that work.

I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on this one. I've passed it up the last couple years and I don't want to wait any longer. Plan for me would be something like leave Friday morning, camp fri night in SW Utah or NW AZ, ride and camp near track on Sat night, Sunday race, Monday camp in Yosemite (Tuolomne Meadows), Tuesday camp in Zion, Wednesday return.

    have fun!
Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.

Re: Official Laguna MotoGP 2012 trip thread.

For anyone traveling the coast, before or after MotoGP, A cool stop-off is in the little tourist town of Solvang, a Danish themed community between Santa Barbara and Santa Maria. There is a motorcycle museum that has some very cool vintage bikes. It costs $10 each to wander around the bikes which range from about 1904 up to 1992.

I love the old Bonnevilles. I've been drooling over the replica new Bonneville T-100's. If I had a vintage old one, I probably wouldn't want to ride it, I'd just put it in my living room and admire it.

My Dad says he and his cousin had an Indian they rode around in the 40's that they sold for $25 or so.

I wish I could have had an old guy with me to tell me more about the bikes.

But....it's got the same chicken strips! J/k! I used to love going there twice a year for the races. I miss that, dammit!
