Meh, 7 is too traffic and cop heavy to be fun 99.99% of the time.

GG & CC are usually better routes--once they're clear of sand and winter residue.

We did that on the way back from Montrose one year. ... well except for the manure truck we had to follow up at the top of McClure Pass.

How is big thompson canyon now? IIRC it was tar snaked all to hell a year or two ago. Wonder if we have to wait that long for 7 to become good again.

Devils gulch is never good never it always has sand in the corners of the tight section. There is no place to pass and in general blows. I have had maybe 3 Rides in 20 Years where it is clean. The Big T is in great shape and has been for a month.

I think in this economy it's going to be a lot more patching/snaking than repaving. So, any road that's shitty now is likely to only get worse as traffic increases over summer...

Devils gulch and Big Thompson Canyon looks like fun. What's the fun route to get to these roads from I-25 and Hampden?

Last time i went i went bear creek, beaver creek, 119, P2P, go left on hwy 7 instead of right, hop onto Macgregor ave and have fun.

from you take Hampden west all the way to Morrison, nothing fun about it but its the quicker way.

I just rode 7.. Thin tar snakes all up and down that bitch. It definitely wasn't confidence inspiring. I could feel my front end slipping in some of the turns. Choose your lines carefully.

This makes me very very sad.. I rode 7 a few weeks ago strictly to blow off steam and it was beautiful. To know that it has been destroyed puts a hole in my heart..

The only route that I can think of is Deckers. From my experience the Golden Gate route is fun but too much gravel on the roads to really enjoy it.
i rode golden gate yesterday it wasn't bad at all.

If you want a quick and really good way to Hwy 34. Take hwy 402 off I-25. Take that until it you must go r. then your next left on 1st st. Take that through a fun group of turns to a dead end. Go R through another group of turns to hwy 34 go L. This is the Big T road. You can take it to Estas or take a right at Y to Devils Gulch. The Gulch is fun you just have to figure out where the dirt is at. There is always some somewhere. Alot of Goats cross that road and drag dirt onto it.

I have to agree. I rode it on Friday and it was clean and clear - no traffic and no cops.

Well, we came down Boulder Canyon this afternoon and there were a set of corners with fresh tar snakes. Right near that restaurant. Did not feel good, kind of squirmy.

Agreed, I was not able to c the ground but had I tried that would have been distracting. P2P was a hoot today. I guess I misunderstood though I thought there was going to be performance awards given at the end. It would have to go to pat on the DRZ.
