August 31st is the second full moon of the month, this month. I propose a full moon ride!
I say we meet in Lyons at that Diamond Shamrock, fuel up if needed, and go from there. Might be a chance we can arrange a dinner somewhere too. Does anyone have any suggestions for dinners in Estes? I know there's that Mexican place and the Lake Mary (?) lodge, but if there's something else, I'm interested in hearing about it.
We ride up to the top, have our Kodak moments and then we ride back down.
Sounds good?
How about, as things sit now: if you want to meet at the Shamrock, let's say 7PM. Dinner at 8PM somewhere in Estes Park and then after sundown, or moonrise, we roll.
We have a dinner place!
An acquaintance of mine owns a photography gallery in Estes and his employees and customers all recommend this place. http://poppyspizzaandgrill.com/ 342 East Elkhorn Avenue Estes Park, CO 80517 GooMaps: http://goo.gl/BBbNY
When entering Estes Park on 36 (Elkhorn), it is on the left hand side of the road, across the street from the Library/Town Hall. The library/town hall has plenty of parking and then you just walk across the street. The above link has their menu so you guys can get an idea of what they have to offer. It's a fairly eclectic selection, so there's some choice there.
Oh, and I'll need everyone to give me a dollar so I can afford to eat.
According to this http://www.almanac.com/moon/rise/CO/...ton/2012-08-31 we should be good to go on moonrise times.
In times past some of us have arrived home well past 1AM, so be prepared for a late night. Also, bring something warm. It might be 90+ degrees in Denver that day, but it will be chilly at night.
