The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

onboard video please?
As a retrospective, now that you guys have done it, how does it compare with racing at HPR? Did you attack the corners (often blind with no runoff) with the same agressiveness as the track; knowing you could go flying off the mountain or into a tree. Or did you take a more conservative line and later apex?
For instance T7 at HPR is uphill right, do you run the same line and attack it the same on a similar corner on the hill?

The lines are the same - the fast line is the fast line. The biggest difference is the general margin for error with which I rode. At HPR, or any other course that you know well, you may ride at 95-100% of your abilities. On the mountain I rode closer to 70-80%, simply leaving more room for error.
It would take years to really learn the road, and that's the biggest thing. At HPR, I *KNOW* what every corner does. I *KNOW* my shift points, braking points, apex, track out, etc for every turn (not that I always hit them LoL). On the mountain, after a few runs and then watching video of those runs over and over again, the best I could do was to have a general knowledge of most of the turns and features of the road, and to know which gear I needed to be in at most every part of the course. Beyond that, the smaller details are done by sight and feel, as they happen.
Did I go "as fast as I could"? Not even close. My sense of self preservation prevents it. On the other hand, I felt 100% in control and completely comfortable the entire run, even when I made a mistake at the end of the picnic ground straight. I rode within my limits, same as every time I get on the bike. The key is that those limits have to change according to the track. My first priority was to finish, my second was to win.
I dunno if that really explains it...

Must have been cool to have your race bikes on the street? Did you guys have any trouble keeping heat in the tires?
The scream at the end was awesome! What an accomplishment. Your equivalent to the Isle of Man. Hats off.
