at MXER are you kidding me where did i say awd helps with stopping... and in colorado most weather related accidents are not from ICE its from to much packed snow that a tire can not grip causing it to loose traction in which most people slam on the breaks hence i said look at what type of traction controls they are fitting the awd with. you dont slam on brakes you drive through it if all possible on a slide (no this does not mean floor the gas)
Closet thing i could think you see with stopping would be traction control which has to do with how power is adaptive to the wheels to gain traction again .. that would mean movement not stopping
Its why they do presets for Snow Gravel and normal. so it puts down a certain amount of power when if feels it sleeping knowing that the average reaction of power to the road conditions
if he was living out East ice would be more of an issue its why they do STUDDED tires out there and here we just do Snow rated
