20 days to ride - Where would you go?

I am fortunate to have the type of job that allows me to take some extended time off occasionally. Its a ways out, but my next window is the month of august in 2015.

If you had roughly 20 days to take off and ride, where would you go? Looking for some ideas as I start my trip planning.

    Rules:
    1. Has to be good paved roads. No dirt
    2. I prefer not to trailer anywhere
    3. Has to be in the lower 48 or Canada
    4. No camping. Cheap hotels and friends

I am half leaning towards the upper NW and through parts of Canada but its just an idea. What would you do?

In 2011 I took 22 days and covered 6,600 miles on the west coast. Good trip and one I could easily do again.

20 days in August? Well.. stay away from anything east of here or south; muggy!

SoCal? Angeles Crest, Mullholland, Palomar, Sunrise Loop to the Meheeco border.

SD 'cept during Sturgis, Wy, ID (Glacier NP) up through the Kootenays in BC to Banff and Jasper. Maybe island hop in the Puget Sound Wa area?

http://www.soundrider.com/rally/ <- Nick Ninja went to that last year. Google Mary Hills loop, they opened that one year exclusively for the rally.

I like your original idea. Go north staying in the Rockies all the way to Calgary, AB, head west to Vancouver, BC and then head down the coast. One interesting thing I heard from residents of Calgary (who were riders) was that despite its position at the foot of the Rockies (just like Denver) that there was not that much good riding right outside of town. I tried the first part once but never made it to Calgary due to a freak early snow storm. Turned around at Fort Macleod and headed back south

I've always wanted to hit Alaska but that's out with your no dirt rule, all though I know a guy did it on his FJR a few years back.

I would stick to the west half of the country (Rockies to the Pacific). I've always wanted to ride the Pacific Coast Highway. You could get Yosemite and Yellowstone in that trip as well.

Maybe check the Iron Butt rides for some ideas?

Those areas are majestic thats for sure. I went up and down the Sierras, including Yosemite, in 2011 and 12. Hit hwy 1 from Morro Bay to Seattle as well. (See link in the first post) Amazing roads and ones that I would welcome riding again.
This time I am considering going a little further north. Have any input on this route?

As I have ridden the last part of your route I made a few changes to make it a lot more fun and miss as much superslab as possible.. http://goo.gl/maps/5E3rQ

Having lived there, I-5 from SEA to YVR is pretty boring, so is Rt 5 to Kamloops - good for making time and distance, as they are pretty much interstates. A better route that riders in the PNW take is through Vancouver, up to Whistler, Pemberton and back over to Kamloops.

An alternate way is to hit the coast of Wa state, hop the ferry to Vancouver Is and then over to the mainland. Or take the secondary highways, cross into Canada at Osoyoos and up through the Okanagan.

Go north through glacier, once you hit banff turn right. Soon as you hit Nova Scotia, turn around and find different roads. Actually, you should go to europe, rent a bike and ride around. But you said that's not an option.

That's a nice looking route! I need to find a better way to get south from Calgary. Preferably into the black hills at some point.

Skip Calgary, from Banff, backtrack a bit west and take 95 south. Thru Kalispell and end up going thru Helena MT

Intersting, teh link works for me. Out of calgary dont cut east to Lethbridge just keep going south to Fort macLeod. The head west to Pincher Creek, then south into the USA. Go through Browning MT on US 89 until you cut off on 287. You will still do about 30 miles on I-15 but that is it. Here is new link, I noticed that Google messed up my route change and had you going straight south out of Fort MacLeod which I fixed here https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=S...=2,3,4&t=m&z=9

If you wanna feel like you're in Europe, hit up Quebec City and then ride northeast along the St. Lawerence Rivver. Take a ferry ride over to Newfoundland for a couple days. Drop back down thru Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire. All on my bucket list.
