We're in Moab and yesterday my KLX250 died and would not restart. Turned out that the rectifier was dead, and I simply ran down the old battery. Moab Powersports sent a trailer to the edge of town and retrieved the bike for free. Of course they knew they'd get some money on the back end fixing it. Anyway they mainly do Yamahas and side-by-sides, but their mechanic, Chris, diagnosed the issue quickly. Unfortunately there were no R/R's in their shop and the soonest they could get one shipped was next Tuesday.

The second part of the story is Arrowhead Motorsports, who caters to mainly the KLR 650 crowd. The owner, Fred, was glad to see if he could help with parts. Turned out he had a RaceTech rectifier for a KLR. A call to RaceTech confirmed that the pin-outs were the same for my KLX.

Between the two shops I was able to salvage the weekend, and will be riding dirt tomorrow.

to Chris and Fred - hit 'em up for parts and service if you ever need it in Moab.
