    looking for instruction

time to get back to the track
i want to do it the right way this time and get some proper instruction
there was a guy here years ago that offered it, i believe he went by the handle of "Rybo" and pretty sure his name is Scott- i PM'd a while ago and it appears that he is either gone from here or not interested
i am not interested in racing, i just want to learn how to ride properly
i'm up in the central mtns and cannot commit to any type of school or schedule, just an occasional track day
    thanks,
    eric

For $100 sign up for MRA's superstreet program. Track specific instruction although you don't have to get a race license afterwards; just take it for the skills. After that you can decide if you want to have more one-on-one instruction through Vanmar or other outfits.

Ricky Orlando does some instruction out at imi as well. But super street is a cheap way to dive in as well.

While Orlando is a good instructor, I would avoid ever going back to IMI.

There is nothing wrong with IMI. It is a good place to ride for cheap.

If you like no rules and hardly any safety then sure, ride at IMI (I am talking their dirt tracks).

I improved my body position and corner speed vastly by riding and practicing there. Can't beat it for $40

I have only ridden on the go-kart track twice. One time it had sand and mud all over it and nobody gave a shit. Still, the dirt tracks there are seriously a problem. I have ridden them for years now. I should further qualify that by saying the dirt tracks that are not the pro track are the problem areas. The pro track is well maintained and highly used, with no 4 wheelers. Everywhere else there are asshat 10 year olds with 4 wheelers going the wrong way on tracks. I won't take my kids there anymore and I wont ride or support such a lawless environment.

Not sure who managed at the time but the times I went, the track was pretty clean and what not. I'm not a dirt rider and probably will never do so, so not sure what the conditions of those are usually.

It is what it is. That is why it is cheap, you have to look out for shit that isn't totally scripted to keep you in a safe space. Streets are still more dangerous but make sure you turn people off to a track you have ridden a couple of times. I don't recall this ever being about the dirt.

As I did say, I have ridden on that track twice and have ridden at IMI for years. Take it how you want.
