    ... sanding plastic F'ing sucks.

I've been working on sanding all the fairings, as well as my gas tank, for over a week now... and with the exception of some final wet sanding of the headlight cowl where I'm finishing up with the bodywork, I'm done!

The final paint scheme is still TBA...

    Thanks, man!

I sure hope it does. The aim is to have it look better than new when I'm finished.

dude you should have just taken it down and paid 75 bucks to have it media blasted. it is well worth it. by now all the time youve put into it you would have had a nice paint job DONE.

Absolutely - and in retrospect, I probably should have spent the money given the amount of time I've spent on the entire thing. But, it was a great learning experience. I now know what works, and what doesn't. Aside from that, it's certainly a pride thing knowing that I did the work.

And on that note, I have 2 sandblasters in my shop that I could have used. The only problem however, is that the media used in each cabinet are considerably more effective on metal than on plastic. The frac sand we use in one blaster is for removing big nasty shit like rust and powdercoating. It tends to rip plastic apart worse than 60 grit sandpaper does. The other cabinet has aluminum oxide in it, which is considerably finer and works well for applications where you're preparing something for paint or polishing. (turbo compressor housings, exhaust headers, brake calipers, etc.,) but it d oesn't do much for removing paint from fairings.

    Custom paint, too. Ugh.

I have no idea, man. I'd try to maybe sand it down, fill it, primer it, and match the paint to the surrounding color?

Chris, sorry for not being in the know. What happened to your bike that you're sanding/painting?

I had to do some bodywork on the front, I figured I'd paint it and change it up a little while I was at it. No real reason.
