Those are some really nice photos, especially the last one. What kind of camera are you using?

It is a Canon Rebel XTi with a couple different lenses. I love taking pictures of bikes so if you want some pro shots of your own let me know.

I love how green everything still is...and it's August!

So Nate, where did you go on that trip?

Let's see...From Fort Collins, up Harmony, around Horsetooth res, stopped at Vern's for breakfast, up Rist Canyon, CR 27 (I think) through Masonville, jump on HWY 34 for a bit, jog off to hit Pole Hill Rd, get back on 34, up to Estes, back down through Glen Haven.

    About ~150 miles

Ah yes, Rist Canyon is probably one of the greener canyons along the Front Range. I haven't been up there since last summer. I may have to go at least once before it starts getting sanded.

Re: Your bike + scenery photos

I was with a friend, and when we were stopped taking pictures at the top of the big hill, bicycles went flying by us...so we decided we would have a 'coast' race to the bottom.

I hit the brakes when I hit 90mph, and we were no where near the bottom.

Re: Your bike + scenery photos

lol...that's kinda scary...I tried that once...hitting 90, but it was on a straight, right before a tight left. Yeah, to me, Rist is a very scary canyon because of the change in asphalt (it gets slippery). I've been told it's not the asphalt, but more than likely the speed on those tight turns at the top right before you get to Stove Prairie.

I tend to be a whole lot more respectful in canyons like Rist these days.

As for riders, it's pretty much a custom chopper and Harley riders destination. But you do get the occasional sportbikes and sportcars stopping by.
We were there last summer. Fish and chips portions were chincey and the honestly tasted like crap. You can get better food cheaper in other places. So yeah, it was over priced and crap We saw more sportbike/touring bikes and sportscars than harleys and choppers.

Re: Your bike + scenery photos

From my ride Saturday up Peak-to-Peak, then down 72 (disclaimer - I've never really thought about the "art" side of taking pics of my bike with scenery, so while the concept behind some of these sounded good in my head, the bike ended up being too far away. *shrug* oh well, what can ya do?):

I think this is my favorite one of the bunch:

With this one being a close 2nd:

Tho I do like seeing the mountains in the background in these next 2:

I like these as well. I always think of stopping on the switchbacks on Devil's Gulch Rd to take pix of the extreme turns and steep grade, but haven't done it yet. You've got some good ideas floating around in your head.

Reminds me of Golden, or something like that. I see a mesa in the foreground right behind that building, which is why it reminds me of Golden.
