I think Josh had a wildcard ride for the race regardless, but I'm glad he gets the shot at it.
If previous AMA / GP wildcard events prove out the transition to the Bridgestone tire will be challenging for Josh. The Moto GP tire is reportadly so stiff that it's difficult even for the GP guys to keep heat in them.
I'm excited to see Josh at full tilt!

Great,
But i hope he doesn't pull a Bostrom.

Ben had a very unique set of challenges at laguna that should have led to him saying "no" to the GP ride.
The races and practices for the two classes he was in were essentially back to back. So he had to go from one bike to the next, with radically different tires / geometry/ behavior with no break and almost no warm up.
Because GP shares the stage with AMA at Laguna all the practice times are cut really short. Really, there was no way that was going to work out for B Boz.

p.s. stiff
I am very curious to know whether or not he will use traction control (the electronic kind) instead of his usual "human traction control" system.

There is no other option on a modern GP bike. Electronic traction control is necessary to manage the peaky nature of the 800CC engine. After watching Lorenzo crash in practice because he forgot to reset the system I would venture to guess that an 800CC moto GP bike is not rideable without the TC. Certainly not ridable at the required pace.

Wow! Rossi/Hayden in 3rd and 4th with Capirossi in 5th! Should be an interesting race. Lots of people running with high emotions and drive with remembering Marco and Capirossi's last race. Can't wait to watch!
Good on Hayes for getting 13th in qual! First time on a GP bike and first time at the track. Considering the circumstances and level of competition, I wouldn't have held it against him if he were in last a few seconds off the pace. Way to go hayes!

Wet practice - that explains the order.
Bautista is a total stud - it's a shame that no one has given him a seat for next year yet. He's done great things with a GP budget and commitment from Suzuki that is much lower than that of the other factories.
Loris is one of my favorite riders and I'm glad that he gets to honor Marco by running his number this weekend.

Great race! Came right down to the end... Won't say anything more.
Bring on the 1000s!!!
Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.
Way to go Hayes, impressive first outing!
