Fabulous idea! The UTSBA (Utah Sport Bike Assn) used to run something similar for sport touring riders at Miller.

That is a GREAT price for what you are getting. I read the article from CL, does anyone know if you actually get some time to ride on the track itself, or is it just meeting at the track but no actual track riding (i.e just in the parking lot). One last thing, is do you know if this is the type of thing you'd get a certificate for like the MSF that can apply to your motorcycle insurance? I'm 2 years into my MSF discount with my motorcycle insurance but if there is something you'd get that could show you did this that I can send to my my insurance than that would pay for the cost of the course right there!

Sarah and I went down for the first session last night and all I can say is that it was fantastic!

The session lasted about three hours and discussed various aspects of riding that are applicable to all road going motorcycles in a wide variety of conditions.

Perhaps the biggest take away was, "when you're going slow nothing matters. The bike is more than capable of masking your mistakes. But when you're at the pointy end, either going fast or when the grip gets low (rain, sleet cold) then there are skills that you need that can and will save your life"

it is this set of skills that we practiced last night. We used the track, but not in the traditional way. In order to be allowed to have people Ina variety of riding equipment and on a variety of types of machines, no continuous laps are run. The first part of the evening is about mastering skills. Getting to the apex of a corner and getting the bike pointed before trying to open the throttle. Using the brakes effectively through the corner, using changes in speed to control your radius, braking at or near the limit.

Near are the end of the night the drills are combined in laps that stop, go, turn and weave to form up a variety of conditions you may encounter on the road or the track.

To to be clear, this is not a racing to track school type course. The emphasis here is on skills that are universal to riding motorcycles.

Summary: the skills are universal, the instruction is top notch and it's worth every penny of the $60 it costs. Don't miss this. It will elevate your ability as a rider.

I really want to do this tho I'm hoping they ad some other Sundays to the sessions. Otherwise I wouldn't mind going this Sunday if I can find anyone who wants to split a hotel for Sunday night for the July 6th session. Would be cool to do some riding during the day to get down to pueblo then check into the hotel and go to the track for the session. The crash at the hotel and ride home Monday.

I went yesterday and it was way worth the time....practiced breaking all day and keeping me two fingers on break today. Felt very comfortable and like it was family teaching. You should go.

There wer 18 last night and they will limit class size to 24.

Cat and I also attended this session, my thoughts echo everything Rybo said. In addition, it is at a track and you do have an opportunity to go WFO at parts. I have some video from my helmet camera, once I've got it pieced together I'll upload. Right now it's a whole lot of my dash and mirror as I was ducking down more than normal.

I'd say my skills improved a lot during class. I had an idea of what I should be doing but to have the guys point out exactly what you are and aren't doing and then show you how to fix it, that's a game changer.

There will be more classes and hopefully some more Sunday sessions, PPIR and HPR all depend on how well these first sessions at PMI go, so take the class at PMI then go again at PPIR and HPR in the future.

We will be going back for another round and I'm pretty sure Cat is shopping for a track bike now.

Anyone going down for this tomorrow? I'm trying to see if anyone wants to ride together on the way down. I prefer to ride with someone for a ride that long. I haven't officially signed up for it yet but will call and do so if anyone wants to ride down. Also as far as how intense the course was would you say it would wear me out enough to need to stay in pueblo for the night or would I be able to ride up home to aurora from there.

This is a must do for anyone that enjoys the canyons that has little/no track "training". There were several people in the class that said they probably learned something that would eventually save their life.

There were also guys that had a lot of track experience that learned the importance of what was being taught.

Its as simple as that. Great class. Great instruction and a really good deal. Nick Ienatsch!!! The guy knows his shit!

This class WILL make you a better rider. DOOOOO IT!
