Anyone know of a place that takes used tires without a fee?
I tried to scrap two water heaters and some other metal a few months ago and all the "free" places wanted $75 to take the scrap. Freakin' joke! Then they sell it. Thieves!!

It's tempting!!
If I could find something that easily cuts the cable in the bead, I can cut them in half and put them in the garbage.

I tried that. Didn't do shit. Can't hold the tire still enough for the blade to get a good bite.

Should be able to fold them in half to fit in the can, but otherwise a grinder with a cutoff wheel will do a better job at cutting them. Not without a god awful mess and stink though. I'd be more inclined to toss them in a tire shops tire pile.
Regarding your scrap metal stuff, nobody should be charging for that. The scrapers will come take it for free, or you can drop it off at a metal recycler yourself and get a couple bucks.

Trash won't take them unless they're cut up. Some place require cutting them into four pieces. An intact tire will keep resurfacing at the dump. That's why they won't take them whole.
That's illegal and if they get your plate.....
I called about ten different places or pick-up services. Everyone of them advertised as free. Everyone of them wanted money when I tried to use them.

Don't ask how I know........ Tires fit real nice in a black contractor grade garbage bag. Allegedly they will blend right in if placed in a roller trash can with general household trash.

Have you tried a local tire store? They might take em off your hands for free or a small kickback.
I take them to Discount when I'm having something done. 10-15 at a time, so I don't want to hit them up when I'm not getting any work done.
I was trying to find a place to dump them as I need. Since recycling places sell them, I thought it would be easy to find a place that doesn't charge.... NOPE!!!
